The Magic Bus
The adventure started with friend Tima dropping me at the shuttle pick up. The drama of the start was this guy from Houston delaying the bus. We waited about 20 minutes and then were leaving and he showed up with the entire bus applauding.. Other than the bus driver not knowing the way, no other drama and we swapped ride stories and enjoyed the great views.
We met a new rider who joined the 6 of us for dinner - Andrew. I also discovered that a friend, Bill M, is also along on the journey.
So, where do I sleep? Gym camping? Football fields? Hotels? We chose Sherpa camping, a sherpa sets ups, hauls our gear and breaks camp down each day. The forecast is 30s tonight....here is mi case this week:
Telluride was absolutely gorgeous, located in a box canyon with 14'ers all around. I highly recommend Siam, a Thai restaurant! I carb loaded on Pad Thai, medium spicy. It was so good!
Telluride did it up for the riders, closing off Main Street with bands, cart vendors am a beer truck.
The mood in the gym and in tent city is subdued tonight with last minute preparations for tomorrow's launch.
Wish me luck!
-Steve
